John Darby's rapture doctrine

  1. You wouldn't want any of these folk to be employed as bus drivers, truck drivers, pilots. In the twinkling on an eye they could cause even more hell to humanity, than they already do

  2. The Bible (Gods Word), teaches that –

“Just as the lightening comes from the east, and flashes even to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.” (Matthew 24:27)

"At that time the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and all the peoples of the earth will mourn. They will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory. And he will send his angels with a loud trumpet call, and they will gather his elect from the four winds, from one end of the heavens to the other. (Matthew 24:30-31)

Its difficult to see how “lightening flashes” and “appear in the sky” and “they will see” and “power and great glory” and “loud trumpet call” fit with the idea of a “secret rapture” !

The Bible (Gods Word), teaches that –

“Therefore keep watch, because you do not know on what day your Lord will come.” (Matthew 24:40-42)

It’s therefore futile to “guess” and “predict” the returning day of Christ as some of the sects and cults try to do (JW’s etc). Unless of course they are deluded enough to think they can control God himself.

  3. I think the above lot demonstrate pretty poor time-keeping skills, so yeah I think they'd be quite annoying in ANY job, lol. But perhaps that's not quite what you meant... Anyone with an undiagnosed serious mental health issue could create carnage though eh? Doomed I say; we're all doomed.

Have always been pretty relaxed about the whole Rapture doctrine myself, even when I was in the EB and Jim Symington in the early 80s was gloomily prophesying that we were In The End Times, we were all done for if we didn't do as he told us, and people my age wouldn't get to have kids (or some waffle around 1981 that "children born today won't get to start school"). I always just thought that it was up to God and no-one else and there wasn't much point getting in a panic about it. Still feel that way, really.

  4. Is it not the case that the CEO of the PBCC Ltd has suggested that he will be coordinating the rapture? I can't help but wonder if this could be best achieved if he happens to be already aloft in his private jet; this would give him a sort of command post, as it were. I would consider that sobriety might be an asset for such an important function, so would hope that the in flight "entertainment" will not be too free flowing at the crucial moment. I think there is something in that for all of us.
