  1. Oh what a game they play! Is it Monopoly or Hypocrisy?

    1. No doubt the whole show was stage managed. Sisters told what hymns to give out, brothers told not to pray for "our beloved brother", scriptures and subject matter pre-determined etc. Would any sisters have asked questions as suggested in the "Living our Beliefs" document? Not likely, as they would never have done it before!Can't image the Mayor was invited back or said that he/she would like to come back next week.Nothing the Mayor witnessed would have resembled a "normal" PBCC meeting.

  2. Dear Mayor,

    Glad you had such a positive experience! If you would like your family ripped apart or, at the least, never to see that hat on your good lady wife's head again, go join them!

    Unbelievable.

    1. I think the Mayor IS the lady with the hat.

    2. The EB entertained a woman leader? I remember them condemning the position of a woman in authority (Thatcher?) as repulsive! I naturally assumed the publicity would only relate to a man and the lady was just a bit over dressed with that necklace!

  3. My mum used to say, "if you can't say anything positive, say nothing". Mum, I am seething.

    Apparently, the service included all the famiy. I don't know where it was, but in my town there were very few intact families - the vast majority were split. In fact I can't recall a single family that was together. I can recall about 100 people punished, disciplined, split from family in a town where there were about 300 members. This report makes my blood boil. Speaking nice things abiut this bunch is unresearched, uncaring, heartless, and damaging. This kind of support can prolong the abuse. They support high profile guests while abusing those who ask about fax machines, watch TV, touch a pc, talk to non-members, vote, look at fireworks, own a red car, join a trade body, get a degree, etc.etc. Or thosr who just decide to seek a different life. The abuse is HUGE. But if we don't tell them they think it is a church.

    NO. IT. IS. NOT.

  4. Oh dear! I was just looking at the comments to this visit by several exEB's and now the link above has ceased to work. The Mayor seems to have removed the page. Perhaps the Mayor no longer wishes to be seen giving credence to this deceptive cult.

    1. You are right, PeterJ. The Facebook page has been removed. I also was looking at it and read some very good comments by ex EB's.

      The Mayor makes many visits to various organisations - I suppose it is one of her functions as Mayor. In 2013 she presented the prizes at the local Focus school. Perhaps it was then she had the invitation to attend a meeting in their 'city' meeting room.

  5. They seem very genuinely kind, well presented and welcoming. Wonder where in Croydon it's located? Does anyone know please? I have seen the Brethren's Meeting Room notice boards in other areas. Is this the same Christian group?

    Thank you

  6. Iver, if you were honest and genuine, you would have gone to THEIR Plymouth Brethren Christian Church website where you would find the address of the Croydon room. It's amazing a stranger found their way here first. So naïve, so dishonest, so hypocritical.

      Hmm me thinks sour grapes is the root of some of these comments.
      We went to one of their lovely helpful meetings last week. We really enjoyed the wholesome occasion and the harmonious discussion about how one applies 2 Timothy 2. Isn't it simply wonderful what the PBCC are doing in this present day to further the word of God? Well I think so.
      At the end, there were appreciative smiles all round the room and we then stood up and exchanged warm handshakes of mutual love and respect. After that, we were treated to some freshly baked pies and lashings of Ginger beer. I really love what these people give to our community and may they long abide in our midst. Just don't get why a nice photo of the Mayor of Croydon and the PBCC should rile people so much or provoke such a churlish and unforgiving spirit.

    3. Would it be anything to do with the way the Exclusive Brethren rip families apart and themselves show an unchristian unforgiving spirit as evidenced by their litigious vindictive behaviour to anyone who disagrees with them? A cult that has caused detriment and harm to many.

    Little wonder MP's and Mayors are so easily duped.

  8. Why were no brethren women photographed with the woman Mayor?

  9. Hark at Old Sour Grapes Granny
    Last week we went to a PBCC meeting. It was a really lovely time and we all got help together looking at the scriptures and studying 2 Timothy 2.
    When the meeting was finished, they all lined up and politely shook our hands. Stupendously welcoming and so up-lifting to our previously weary souls.
    Afterwards, we were offered freshly baked pies and copious lashings of ginger beer. No sour grapes or sour milk on offer ha ha ha.

  10. A carefully worded letter to the Mayor (yes the one in the hat) might be read by her and not just by her PA. The email address given on her website is
    the.mayor@croydon.gov.uk

  11. The joke is that there is no meeting in Croydon, unless the Plymouth Brethren Christian Church deliberately left it off their list.

  12. According to the list above there are several. I know that the one in Sanderstead is there as i have seen it - used to go there myself.

    1. The point I was making Jill is that the list above contains all 'Brethren' facilities in the Croydon area at that time. Exclusive and Non-exclusive together, little wonder there is confusion within the ranks of Government as to which is which and who does what. Not helped by the rebrand of Exclusives to Plymouth Brethren Christian Church. I think it's called 'muddying the waters'.

  13. Mayor of Croydon! What a name
    For the politician, who came
    Peeb’s reputation to reclaim.
    Hallelujah! What a media opportunity!

    Bearing chain and scoffing food,
    In that place replete she stood;
    Raised my anger, just so rude.
    Hallelujah! What a media opportunity!

    Guilty, vile, and worldly we;
    Spotless, peeby RRT;
    Full agreement with the CC!
    Hallelujah! What a media opportunity!

    Many peebs were there to lie;
    “You. Will. Not. Change. Us!” was their cry;
    Now on website exalted high.
    Hallelujah! What a media opportunity!

    When he comes, our glorious Minister of the Lord in the Recovery,
    All his conned peebs home to bring,
    Then anew this song they’ll sing:
    Hallelujah! What a media opportunity!

    1. Just remember, you won't be able to sing this him (hymn, hum) if any non-members are sitting behind the ropes at the meeting, cos v.5 mentions you-know-who, and His Name Is Not To Be Mentioned At Any Mtg With Worldlies Or Outs Present.
      I know the above is fact, because a current UK HEB member told me about the pre-programmed farce that ensues whenever non-members attend.

      The Hales Exclusive Brethren aka PBCC are now just a complete cultic sham. It is extremely concerning just how many people are so keen to 'support religion', they will only see just to the end of their own nose & no further.

  14. Dear Mayor - if you lie down with those dogs you will get fleas.

    Been there, done that, and there's nothing positive to be said about losing your family and friends to a cult.
